LVT Installer and Fitter

Luxury Vinyl Flooring Installer

Luxury Vinyl Flooring Installer

Key Takeaways: Luxury Vinyl Flooring Installer

  • I need a qualified fitter for my new LVT
  • Where can I find an LVT installer?
  • Is there a luxury vinyl flooring fitter trade association?
  • Do LVT fitters have to have a professional qualification?
  • I am in a remote part of the UK where LVT installers are thin on the ground!
  • Is there a network of LVT fitters I can tap into?

Looking for a professional, experienced and qualified luxury vinyl flooring fitter can be an arduous task. Locating the right installer is an important step on the journey to achieving a successful installation of your new LVT. We are asked many times through the course of a normal working month if we 'supply and fit' luxury vinyl tiles in a particular area in the UK. At the moment we do have a fitting team working under Flooring Hut, although they are only operational at present (2023) in the Worthing, West Sussex area.

In addition at Flooring Hut we have for a number of years now been able to offer a limited but useful service providing access to a UK fitters network. These fitters are wholly independent of Flooring Hut, but have applied to join our list of installers, often after purchasing product from our website. You can make a postcode search on our website by following this link to our page for checking to see if we know of any LVT fitters in your area.

There are courses that floorlayers can attend to improve their LVT installation skills and knowledge. It is imperative that you when you hire a fitter for your install that you are able to ascertain their level of skill, knowledge and most importantly experience in laying luxury vinyl tiles. Find out as well on the specific LVT installation type that you are going to buy or have already purchased. The fitter will ideally have had experience in fitting what you have bought i.e. click, glue down, rigid core etc. We have referenced a couple of businesses below that provide LVT fitting training to the industry and floorlayers. There are other LVT fitting training courses that your prospective fitter may have attended i.e from F Ball and Amtico. It is worth knowing this information as a consumer so you can ask relevant questions before making a hire:

Floorskills Training Centre

Their aim is to give people value for money and promote them as an installer after they leave, along with helping them keep their Continuous Professional Development (CPD) up to date. Floorskills training is given under the personal supervision of the country’s leading trainers Sid and Matt Bourne. To ensure a high level of quality, FloorSkills only uses trainers who are proven in the trade and we have a select team of instructors and the help of numerous reputable manufacturers. FloorSkills is Europe’s largest independent Training Centre with over 8000 sq-ft of dedicated flooring training area. They are approved by over 25 manufacturers in providing training of their products.

THE ADVANTAGES TO THE LVT INSTALLER

  • Get listed as certified installer on the Quick-Step website
  • Carry the prestigous Quick-Step Master Installer ID card
  • Offer customers the optional lifetime installation warranty
  • Receive van stickers identifying you as a Quick-Step Master Installer

Polyflor Training Academy

Polyflor, the UK’s leading commercial vinyl flooring manufacturer has an established training academy that delivers courses all year round. With a newly refurbished, purpose-built facility, it’s now even easier to access high quality training. Whether you want to brush up on your existing floor laying knowledge or gain the necessary skills to begin your floor laying career, our practical courses give you a comprehensive insight into laying that perfect floor, covering everything from preparing sub-floors, conditioning, using the correct adhesives to setting out and fitting.

The main reasons to get a professional to install your new LVT floor is firstly to make sure that the job is done to a standard that gives you the many years of enjoyment that a top quality LVT floor can bring. You most definitely do not want a post install snag list as long as your arm and then having to get in touch with the retailer and making a claim on the floor 6 months after it was fitted! In fact 99.9% of these types of calls if we receive them can be attribued to a faulty instalaltion and not any issue with the actual floor. The other most important reason to hire a qualified fitter is to protect your manufactueres guarantee on the floor that you have purchased. For example, below we have shown part of the T&Cs for an Amtico Form floor and the conditions surrounding having their floor professionally installed.

Amtico Form - Residential Warranty

30 Year Residential Product Warranty

Amtico International (hereinafter referred to as ‘the Company’), hereby guarantees that in the event of the Amtico Form flooring supplied under this agreement, requiring replacement due to ‘wearout’ from normal floor traffic within 30 years from the date of purchase, the floor will be repaired or replaced with the same or similar material free of charge. ‘Wear-out’ means the removal of the pattern and colour from the Amtico Form floor caused by the removal of the protective wear layer. The floor must have been installed in accordance with our installation instructions and the registration process completed by either registering online, sending an e-mail, or completing a registration form.

This Warranty is Conditional on the Following:

1. The Amtico floor has been professionally installed either by an Amtico Approved Retailer or other competent floor installer

2. That the Amtico Form floor has been installed in accordance with the directions contained within the Technical information which can be viewed on our website (www.amtico.com) and BS8203 (the standard for installation of resilient flooring) and using Amtico approved adhesives

3. That the floor is used domestically and has been regularly maintained, using approved products, following current guidelines

Our leading LVT ranges include the following: Exclusive by Flooring Hut; Polyflor Camaro; Polyflor Camaro Loc; Karndean Knight Tile; Karndean Van Gogh; Amtico Spacia; Amtico Signature: Luvanto Click Plus and Luvanto Design.
