Conquer the Concrete

Concrete has been a typecast flooring material for years. You may have heard ‘Concrete’s only good for warehouse floors’ or ‘It’s useful for high footfall areas like shops, but not in the home…’ Whatever it is you’ve heard about concrete flooring in your home, chances are it hasn’t been wholly positive and yet it is on the rise in the home – let’s find out why:

1) It’s gonna outlive you!

You can leave it to your kids in your will because let’s be honest, it’s going to be there for a while. I don’t think I’ve ever heard of someone needing a replacement concrete floor. Leave your legacy by etching ‘Your Name Woz Ere’ into the flooring to be remembered for all eternity!

2) Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy!

To maintain a concrete floor requires minimum effort. You’ve simply got to seal or wax it every 3-9 months and let’s be honest here, you can get away with doing it just once a year too if you want to. And when you spill something on it, easily sweep it up or mop it away and you’re all good. No more messing around with red wine stains on beige carpets for you!

3) It’s versa-tile (see what I did there!)

It’s versatile and it can come in tile form, get it? Okay, sorry, enough now… Since concrete produces a flat smooth finish, if at a later date you want to change your flooring, you can simply lay a new layer of flooring over the top of it without having to rip anything up. Now, that’s a convenient little perk.

4) It’s flexible!

Not literally, concrete is about as rigid as it gets. Here, I’m talking about design flexibility. Whether you’re going for that domestic-industrial crossover look or you’re trying to create clean lines and colours in your house, concrete offers you many design options which some other flooring materials simply can’t. I’ll see you on the next one!
