What is the best flooring for pets?

Do you have pets at home and wonder what the best type of flooring for pets would be to ensure your home looks beautiful, but your pets are kept safe?

We’ve put together some details about the type of flooring available and how well each one can work with your pets.

Carpet

Some flooring is best avoided if you do have pets at home. Carpet is one of the ones to avoid as it can trap dirt, dust and fur as well as also storing fleas etc that dogs can bring into your home.

Although we say to avoid it, you can still manage carpets in your home, if you clean it regularly. You may also just want to choose carpet for the areas of your home that your pets visit less regularly.

Wood Flooring

Wood flooring can be a great option if you have pets. Wood flooring is durable and very easy to clean. Any scratches that might appear on your wood flooring are quite easy to hide due to the changes in the natural wood. Wood flooring is also stain resistant, which does help for any accidents that may occur.

There is only one disadvantage to having wood flooring and this is that it may be a little slippery for your pets.

Wood flooring is definitely worth considering for your home if you have pets.

Luxury Vinyl Flooring

Luxury Vinyl Flooring Tiles or LVT is our favourite type of flooring if you have pets. This type of flooring is much more durable than any other. As well as wood flooring it is also stain resistant and very durable.

It is also easy to clean and you can even find waterproof options, which would be fantastic if you have dogs at home. As opposed to wooden flooring, LVT is scratch resistant so you won’t have to deal with any repairs or replacements, until you’d like to change the look of your room.

Rubber Tile Flooring

Along with LVT rubber flooring is also one of our favourites for pets. Although we understand it is unlikely to be an option for your full home. You may consider having rubber flooring in one area for your dog, maybe at the entrance to your home.

Rubber tile flooring is also durable, stain and scratch resistant and very easy to clean.

Conclusion

As you can see there are many different types of flooring that you can choose for you home. Each of these options are perfect for your pet and also for you at home.

These choices all come in a variety of colours and styles so you can choose the right one for your home. Your home can be beautiful with any of these flooring types and you can choose the best one for you.
