Hallway LVT

Choosing LVT Flooring for a Hallway

Hallways can experience frequent foot traffic as people move between rooms and enter the home from outside, so look beyond colour and design when comparing LVT. Check the individual product specification for wear layer, installation method, cleaning guidance and suitability for the intended area. Subfloor preparation is also important, particularly with glue down products where the finished surface can depend on the quality of the floor beneath.

Think about everyday use too. An entrance hallway may regularly encounter outdoor dirt, wet footwear and grit, so consider how easily your preferred design can be maintained and follow the manufacturer's care instructions. Rather than assuming every LVT product offers the same performance, choose a floor whose specification suits the demands of your particular hallway.

Choosing a Design for Your Hallway

Hallways are often relatively narrow spaces, making plank size and laying pattern particularly noticeable. Straight wood-effect planks can create a simple, continuous appearance, while herringbone introduces more pattern and can make the floor a stronger feature. Stone and tile-inspired designs offer another option, particularly in entrance areas where you prefer a less traditional wood look.

Also consider where the hallway leads. Using the same flooring through connected living areas can create visual continuity, while a contrasting floor can help define the entrance as a separate space. Colour, pattern and surface detail may look different under the natural and artificial lighting in your hallway, so ordering free samples where available is useful before making your final choice.
