White wood flooring can range from softly limed and pale-washed oak through to more distinctive white finishes. Because these are real wood surfaces, the underlying grain, knots and natural variation remain visible and can influence the finished appearance. A white or limed treatment can highlight this character rather than producing the completely uniform colour associated with a manufactured surface.

Plank or Herringbone White Wood Flooring?

Traditional straight planks allow the grain and variation of pale timber to run through the room and can suit both contemporary and more traditional interiors. White herringbone flooring creates a more decorative effect, combining the lighter colour palette with a distinctive patterned layout.

Plank dimensions can also change the character of a finished floor, so compare board width and length as well as colour. With natural timber, we recommend viewing a sample before ordering wherever possible, particularly with white and limed finishes where the interaction between the surface treatment and natural oak can be difficult to judge accurately from a screen.
