Engineered wood flooring is our best-selling and most versatile wood flooring product. Its stable construction responds well to underfloor heating and has all the aesthetic benefits of a solid wood floor but eliminates many of the practical drawbacks posed by fitting solid timber in modern homes. This product is also very strong and durable because of the compression of layers. It can be nailed directly into joists without the need for sub-flooring and works in basement areas and on concrete.

This type of flooring provides the look of solid wood flooring together with practical and cost benefits that have seen it become one of the most popular flooring types today. Engineered wood flooring uses real wood but, instead of being left in its solid state, the wood is formed into different layers, which are then cut into the planks that make up the floor.

They have a top layer veneer of solid hardwood pressure glued to plywood base layer. The top layer can be refinished or sanded down when necessary and gives the appearance and feel of real solid wood floors. The plywood base adds increased dimensional stability to the planks. Generally these wood floors can be laid over an underlay without attachment to the sub-floor:
